I have written so much about Jose over the years. Here’s a short version of why he is so wonderful! We are lucky that he can return yearly so that we can continue our studies, even if we can’t get to Buenos Aires. Plus, Jose’s just a great person and we all need that positive energy in our lives as we re-emerge into the dance space! This year, Jose focuses on balancing the old and the new in tango. You will benefit from his perspective at any level of tango: I am still learning from him after 26 years of tango, but he helped me when I was just a baby tango dancer too.

Pricing
The first class is $20 so you can try Jose out! If you buy the workshop package, it’s $120 (so $20 for each class). Single classes are $30/each apart from the first class. If you buy 2-5 classes, they are $25/each. You can pre-register or pay at the door. I will be available at the end of Thursday’s class if you want to decide then. I accept cash, checks, PayPal and Venmo in addition to signing up online. If you plan to pay by credit or with a debit card, I would REALLY appreciate pre-registration to cut down on paperwork before the class. I also appreciate that I can pay Jose 3% more if you pay by cash or check :-)
Private lessons
Take a private lesson (or two, or five) from Jose while he is here. He is a fabulous leader AND follower. I learn so much from my lessons with him that I take notes to remember it, but he will go at your pace! If you are a beginner, he is one of the nicest, kindest people I know: not scary at all!
What should I study?
The top question from my students who have already signed up for privates: what should I study? WHATEVER YOU LIKE! I like to study the Old Masters with him, as he studied with so many of them. However, as I said, he was one of the group of young dancers who evolved Nuevo Tango in the 1990s, so if you want to study performance tango, he can also go there. Last time he visited, I worked on historic forms with one partner, and practiced for stage dancing with another, and it was all exciting!
Pricing
Private lessons: $130/hr or $550/5 (to schedule contact Elizabeth, ewartluf@gmail.com) or use my contact form from my website. Please pay Jose by cash or check at your first private lesson. PLEASE do not schedule lessons that you might cancel: you are responsible for that slot.
Extra fun while Jose is here
Jose will DJ at Las Naifas Matinee Milonga, 6:30-9ish 3/11 @ Norse Hall, 111 NE 11th, $15 at the door! I will teach the 5:30 lesson so that Jose can prepare to DJ. Please join us, get a drink at the bar downstairs, and dance! Again, vaccinations and masks are required as in the classes. I am driving Jose to the airport after the milonga, so come dance and say goodbye until next time!
